12 more injured in People' protest march against Navy firing on fishermen by police shelling. Peaceful movement against plastic net thrown into bloodshed.
Fishermen in Gwadar use fishing net made up of organic material that is not harmful for smaller fish and eggs by this practice for centuries the natural cycle does not disrupted. Businessmen from outside Gwadar are promoting plastic nets for fishing that are killing smaller fish and destroying eggs, this genocide will result in complete destruction of marine life in Gwadar and unemployment of local fishermen.
As resistance against use of plastic net fishermen of Gwadar have organized a peaceful movement which got support from civil society. For last few days fishermen were on strike. Protest marches were going on daily. On August 26 Navy opened fire on a rally of fishermen, shot four, Fida Hussain s/o Pir Bukhsh age 26, Imam Bukhsh s/o Haider 25, Wahid s/o Murad 18, Ali Mohammad s/o Rozi 60.
After the incident shops closed as protest, people came out on roads and raised slogans, police started shelling12 injured. Now there is curfew in Gwadar, heavy petrolling of FC seen in Gwadar and Kalatoo.
People of Gwadar are facing fear of disappearance from our homeland in the name of development. We are harassed continuously. Our fishing and social activities are restricted. We are not allowed to get any job in so called development projects like Deep Sea Port, people are imported and hired from outside Balochistan. People are forced to sell lands of Gwadar for peanuts to outsiders and to be displaced from Gwadar. Navy and China had occupied famous Mount Batail, a mountain having shape of a ship in the sea where people always celebrated traditional festivities. Settlement of outsiders is changing our demography.
It is planned to force us to be the RED INDIANS of 21st century.
Gwadar calls the people of the world who believe in justice for JUSTICE!!
Development for the people of Gwadar YES!
Development for others by marginalizing & diminishing people of Gwadar NO....
