American Deaths in Iraq

At Least 3,117 Dead and 23,417 Wounded

The Pentagon has released the names of the following US service members killed recently in Iraq. At least 3,117 members of the military have died and at least 23,417 have been wounded since the war began in March 2003.

Two soldiers were killed Jan. 30 in Ramadi: Sergeant Corey J. Aultz, 31, of Port Orchard, Wash.; and Sergeant Milton A. Gist Jr., 27, of St. Louis. Both were assigned to the Army First Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment, Second Brigade Combat Team, First Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.

Two soldiers were killed on Feb. 1 in Baghdad: Private First Class David C. Armstrong, 21, of Zanesville, Ohio; and Private First Class Kenneth T. Butler, 21, of East Liverpool, Ohio. Both were assigned to the Army 57th Military Police Company, Eighth Military Police Brigade, Eighth Theater Sustainment Command, US Army Pacific, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Specialist Eric R. Sieger, 18, of Layton, Utah, on Feb. 1 at Buritz. Army First Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, Third Brigade, First Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Corporal Richard O. Quill III, 22, of Roswell, Ga., on Feb. 1 in Anbar Province. Marine Second Battalion, Fourth Marine Regiment, First Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Two soldiers were killed Feb. 2 in Taji: Chief Warrant Officer Keith Yoakum, 41, of Hemet, Calif.; Chief Warrant Officer Jason G. Defrenn, 34, of Barnwell, S.C. Both were assigned to the Army First Battalion, 227th Aviation Cavalry Regiment, First Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Specialist Alan E. McPeek, 20, of Tucson, Feb. 2 in Ramadi. Army 16th Engineer Battalion, First Brigade Combat Team, First Armored Division, Giessen, Germany.

Captain Kevin C. Landeck, 26, of Illinois, on Feb. 2 in Baghdad. Army Second Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment, Second Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

Staff Sergeant Terrence D. Dunn, 38, of Houston, on Feb. 2 in Baghdad. Army 210th Brigade Support Battalion, Second Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

Private Matthew T. Zeimer, 18, of Glendive, Mont., on Feb. 2 in Ramadi. Army Third Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, First Brigade Combat Team, Third Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.

Staff Sergeant Ronnie L. Sanders, 26, of Thibodaux, La., on Feb. 3 in Baghdad. Army 407th Brigade Support Battalion, Second Brigade Combat Team, 82 d Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Sergeant Randy J. Matheny, 20, of McCook, Neb., on Feb. 4 in Baghdad. Army 1074th Transportation Company, Sidney, Neb.

Lance Corporal Brandon J. Van Parys, 20, of New Tripoli, Pa., on Feb. 5 in Anbar Province. Marine Third Battalion, Sixth Marine Regiment, Second Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Sergeant Joshua J. Frazier, 24, of Spotsylvania, Va., on Tuesday in Anbar Province. Marine First Battalion, Sixth Marine Regiment, Second Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Corporal Jennifer M. Parcell, 20, of Bel Air, Md., on Wednesday in Anbar Province. Marine Combat Logistics Regiment Three, Third Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan.

Two sailors were killed Wednesday when their helicopter crashed in Anbar Province: Petty Officer First Class Gilbert Minjares Jr., 31, of El Paso . Navy Marine Aircraft Group 14, Second Marine Aircraft Wing, Cherry Point, N.C.; Petty Officer Third Class Manuel A. Ruiz, 21, of Federalsburg, Md. Navy Second Medical Battalion, Second Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Sergeant Major Joseph J. Ellis, 40, of Ashland, Ohio, on Wednesday in Anbar Province. Marine Battalion Landing Team Second Battalion, Fourth Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
