Carlyle Group Asked to Join Galp

The Portuguese government has invited a national consortium and two US groups to join the public Galp Energia oil company as "strategic partners", Economy Minister Carlos Tavares has announced.

The Portuguese consortium is led by Viacer, which controls the Unicer brewery, and the US groups are the CVC venture capital fund and the Carlyle group, which is linked to Frank Carlucci, a former US ambassador to Lisbon, Tavares said.
