Bush and the Gang
Say,
"Give us more"
$87 Billion. . . and counting!
PAUL GOETTLICH 9sep03

IN essence, they are saying to the people of the US, "We want to take it from your schools & teachers, janitors, child care, mothers & fathers, school lunches, housing, libraries & librarians, welfare, environmental protection, physical & mental health care, retirement, police & fire departments, parks & recreation, art & music, animal shelters, transportation, roads & freeways."
In other words, they want to take it from the future of our children and their children, and their children, and their children, and their children, and their children, and their children...
They aren't even fighting the war. It's disproportionately being fought by poor African-Americans and Latinos. It certainly isn't the Bush children who are sweltering in the desert sun, breathing in air that is highly contaminated with every known man-made toxicant. Slavery wasn't abolished, it's alive and well in neoliberal policies.
The health effects of this war on our children will be worse than the first Gulf War. That's the war that a disease was named after—Gulf War syndrome.
This $87 billion isn't about fighting a war, it's just more money taken away from us and put into the pockets of a small minority of corporate elite. How many Democrats are fighting George the Lesser on this request? It seems that they think it's a shoe in for the money. Some are saying that they'll give him a lot of questioning, but that, in the end, he will be given what he wants.
What was once thought of as a democracy is rapidly becoming an oligarchy. Or should we say oiligarchy?
Bush the Lesser is hoping it will somehow win him the next election. But the chickens are coming home to roost. And none too soon.
